				 The City Center and its historic quarter (population 12.000) are framed by the Anlagenring, a street which outlines where the city wall once stood. The area around the main train station, which can also be allocated to the city center, has many classical Gründerzeit style buildings. The core area of the historic city center located between the cathedral and the Römerberg, which was destroyed during World War II, is currently being reconstructed.
